IN MEMORIAM

The Rev. Paul Kovács, the Pastor of the Johnstown-Windber Hungarian Reformed Church was called Home by God on Saturday, April 4th, at age 79.  Rev. Kovács faithfully served the Bethlen Home from 1976 to 1999, as Executive Director, Nursing Home Administrator and Chaplain.  It was during Rev. Kovács’ tenure that the full complement of retirement cottages were constructed and developed.  Rev. Kovács was a gracious host for many meetings and he extended warm hospitality to all who visited our campus here in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Previous to his ministry at Bethlen Home, Rev. Kovács served the Hungarian Reformed Church community in Uruguay and also Hungarian Reformed congregations in Johnstown, Windber and Sharon.  After his retirement from Bethlen Home in 1999, Rev. Kovács returned to serve the Johnstown-Windber Hungarian Reformed Church, where he remained as pastor until his death. Rev. Kovács is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edith, loving children, Paul, Eva, Ruth and Daniel, 5 grandchildren, 2 sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Edith Miller.  Funeral services were private.  May we keep the Kovács family in our prayers during these days.  May we thank God for the many blessings he shared with us through Paul’s life.  May our faith in the certain resurrection to eternal life be strengthened during this Easter Season. May Nt. Paul Kovács’ memory remain blessed – szeretett emléke legyen áldott! Rev. Imre Bertalan, Exec. Director, Bethlen Communities
